Amara Kassam

Data & Intervention Analyst

Amara is a Data and Intervention Analyst at Parents for Peace, contributing to internal research and communications that inform the organization’s approach to preventing violent extremism. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations and a minor in Applied Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as an associate’s degree in Psychology from Laney College.

Her work focuses on identifying behavioral red flags, providing supportive strategies, and implementing a public-health-oriented solution to counteract radicalization—reflecting her passion for empowering communities and fostering resilience.

In addition to her role at Parents for Peace, Amara has experience serving as a research assistant at UC Santa Barbara and in addressing social inequities through her volunteer work with the Poor People’s Campaign at Laney College. She brings a young, internet-literate perspective to her work, helping families and individuals understand the many online “rabbit holes” that can accelerate radicalization.

Outside of work, Amara enjoys gardening and currently tends to over 70 thriving houseplants, nurturing them with the same care and dedication she brings to her work.
