Parents for Peace at the Virginia Summit to Combat Antisemitism

Myrieme Churchill, Mubin Shaikh, and Arno Michaelis attended the Virginia Summit to Combat Antisemitism, presenting on the transformative power of empathy and resilience in combating hate.

On June 2-3, Myrieme Churchill, Mubin Shaikh, and Arno Michaelis represented Parents for Peace at the Virginia Summit to Combat Antisemitism. They participated in a panel titled “Catalysts of Compassion: Turning Hate Into Sympathy,” where they shared powerful narratives about transformative experiences and the journey from hate to empathy.

The panel featured personal stories from a former Neo-Nazi and a former Islamist, recounting their paths to renouncing violence and embracing empathy. Myrieme Churchill, Executive Director of Parents for Peace, facilitated the discussion, highlighting the organization’s mission to break the cycle of extremism by building resilience. The panel emphasized the impact of awareness and the potential for change in creating a more equitable society.

During the summit, the Parents for Peace team engaged with key partners, including  Lt. Governor Winsome Sears. These interactions underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in combating antisemitism and promoting a more compassionate world.
