Our Story

Parents for Peace was co-founded by Melvin Bledsoe, a father whose son was radicalized and carried out a deadly act of violence. His goal was urgent and simple: no other family should have to experience what his did.

What began as a grassroots support group has grown into a national helpline and intervention network. Today, our team includes former extremists, family members, clinicians, and public health professionals—who work together to prevent radicalization with compassion and expertise.

"I'm on a mission. I want to help others. No one should have to go through this pain. No one."

— Melvin Bledsoe, Co-Founder of Parents for Peace

“It was always playing in the back of my mind like what could I have done different? When I talked to him, could I have…did I miss something? Did I miss a sign?”

— Monica Holley, Co-Founder of Parents for Peace
