Parents4Peace has been partnering with the Community Safety Evaluation Lab (CSE-Lab) at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health for the past five years.
The CSE-Lab is led by Dr. Elena Savoia, who has over 20 years of experience in program evaluation and a track record of grants from the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice focused on evaluating programs designed to prevent violent extremism.
A team of biostatisticians at Harvard Chan has conducted a rigorous evaluation of P4P interventions to assess the impact of the program. More specifically, Harvard Chan has leveraged its evaluation capabilities to focus on peer learning and has produced data measuring the impact of peer sessions on parents’ confidence in managing communication and relationships with their loved ones.
Specific metrics have been tested, and a study has been designed and developed to assess the impact of these sessions—showing promising results. In addition, Harvard Chan has created toolkits to evaluate anti-hate programs implemented at the school level. Through the use of randomized trials and pre/post-intervention assessments, rigorous methods have been applied and are available to further evaluate the impact of future P4P interventions.
